When lowering the ride height using shock absorbers or springs, bushes of the suspension arms' moveable parts may twist (Diagram). This restricts the ride height drop and can cause unusual sounds. To avoid this, after installing the dampers or springs, make sure to loosen the suspension arms' joint bolts with the vehicle resting on the ground, and shake the vehicle body a few times before retightening. This should relax the strained bushes in the suspension arm joints.
